MC: ELS 203.1 Phonetics and Spoken English (3 Units)

The course seeks to develop in the students a basic knowledge of phonetics and spoken English, and the application of these in English communication. Lectures and exercises will cover general phonetics-articulatory, auditory and acoustic, physiology of speech, classification of speech sounds, sound segments, supra-segments, salient features of educated West African English and target speech form. Students will be expected to use the language laboratory.
